What is the Great White Brotherhood

The Great White Brotherhood is a spiritual order of Western saints and Eastern adepts who have reunited with the Spirit of the living God and who comprise the heavenly hosts. They have transcended the cycles of karma and rebirth and ascended into that higher reality of the realm of heaven. Jesus was an example of one who ascended and is one of the ascended masters of the Great White Brotherhood. The order of the Great White Brotherhood is comprised of many Spiritual Beings working directly with the evolutions of this planet, as well as certain unascended masters on earth. They are united for the highest purposes of the brotherhood of man under the Fatherhood of God, having risen in every age from every culture and religion to inspire creative achievement in education, the arts and sciences, God-government and the abundant Life through the economies of the nations.

Included in this Spiritual hierarchy are the Elohim, Cosmic Beings, angelic hosts, and the Ascended Masters -- the latter who have graduated from the earth's schoolroom East and West and have chosen to stay and help in ministration of the evolutions of this planet. They work with earnest seekers and public servants of every race, religion and walk of life to assist humanity in its evolution.

The term "Great White Brotherhood" refers to a group of Spiritual Cosmic Beings. The word "white" refers not to race but to the aura of white light that surrounds these immortal beings. Jesus Christ through John and recorded in Revelation gives us many examples of a group of saints robed in white.

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. Rev. 6:9-11

Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Rev. 3:4-5

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. Rev. 19:7-9

After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands. Rev. 7:9

The "Entire Spirit of the Great White Brotherhood" refers not to one Conscious Being but to the impersonal combined Causal Body Momentums of all Members of the Great White Brotherhood.

The Use of the Term Great White Brotherhood in Previous Activities of the Ascended Masters
In 1877 Helena Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Society, attributed her teachings to just such a body as the Great White Brotherhood, a body of adepts. In her book the Isis Unveiled, she called the revealers of her teachings the "Masters of the Hidden Brotherhood" or the "Mahatmas". Blavatsky said that she had made physical contact with these adepts' in Tibet. She continued to receive teachings from them through her abilities of spirit mediumship.

The Mahatma Letters began publication in 1881 with information revealed by "Koot Hoomi" to Alfred Percy Sinnet, who was connected with Helena Blavatsky. Koot Hoomi, through Sinnett, revealed that high ranking members of mystic organizations in India and Tibet were able to maintain regular telepathic contact with one another, and thus were able to communicate to each other, and also to Sinnett, without the need for either written or oral communications. The letters published by Sinnett, which brought forth doctrine on reincarnation, were said to have been revealed through this means.

Nicholas Roerich and his wife, Helena Roerich, founders of the Agni Yoga Society, inspired by the Theosophical writings of H.P. Blavatsky, published the "Agni Yoga" series of books in the 1920's. Their contents, claimed to be inspired by the Master Morya, and described the work of this Brotherhood and the Spiritual Hierarchy.

In 1925 Charles Leadbeater used the term the "Great White Brotherhood" extensively in his book The Masters and the Path. Leadbeater was a member of the Theosophical Society. He spoke of the "Great White Brotherhood" as an enlightened community of adepts, on earth or in the hereafter, with benevolent aims toward the spiritual development of the human race.

The term Great White Brotherhood was further developed and became more mainstream in 1934 with the publication of "Unveiled Mysteries" by Guy Ballard the founded of the "I AM" Activity. The Great White Brotherhood was referred to as a Brotherhood of "Immortal Saints and Sages" who have gone through the Initiations of the Transfiguration, Resurrection, and the Ascension.
